Modern Alchemy Ex Libris Candle

In contrast to the other review, I have to say, this was one of the most powerful fragrances from the Historical scents. It also happens to be my personal favorite. I'm so upset that these Modern Alchemy candles seem to be disappearing, likely for retirement. They've been the best smelling, most romantic and beautifully packaged candles I've ever seen. **** As far as we know, they aren't retiring - they are just on backorder. They should be available early spring of 2012. -Sue

First off, let me just say that I am a HUGE Modern Alchemy fan. I have them stocked up in my closet as if my life were dependant on having them. This scent, however, let me down. When I had this lit I couldn't smell ANYTHING! I thought it was a fluke from an initial first-time burn but after trying it again and again and again there never seemed to be ANY throw coming out of the candle. Even when I would go to sniff this I couldn't smell anything! To this day I am still unsure if I just had a fluke candle or if this is just an extremely faintly scented candle...but, this truly made me sad. Love this line of candles. Wish I had smelled SOMETHING while burning this!!! Especially since I am an avid reader and a huge fan of books in general. I thought this would be a nice compliment to my trove of novels scattered across my room in shelves and nooks. If you want a nice Library candle, go for Le Cherche Midi's No. 20 scent. It is perfect for that kind of den/study area.
