Modern Alchemy Salem Candle

Salem is such an intense fragrance. I would never have imagined anyone looking back into history and turning such a dreadful, chaotic, maddening time into a fragrance just as menacing. I say that in a good way. Salem isn't for everyone. It is a dark, dreary scent in the best of ways. This candle reminds me of Belle Fleur's Kyara Clove. This is Kyara Clove's bigger, meaner brother. Where Kyara clove is softened by the leather and spices, Salem is left dank and dirty...with a strong Ashen aspect to it. The smell reminds me a lot of a campfire and the ashes that float up in the sparks and sometimes land on your body. Those little sooty bits and peices that smell altogether scary yet comforting in a freaky way. In that regard, this scent is NOT for everyone. I enjoyed my burning experience with Salem immensely but it was a unique one for me in that the scent matched up with the darkness of that time period in my life. This is a very wintery scent and also reminds me a ton of burning fires in the fireplace and cleaning the ashes from it afterwards. It sounds strange, but it is actually pretty cool. I love Modern Alchemy. They are very clever for coming up with this line.
